Shark cage diving video by Brian:
Port Lincoln is one of the most popular sites for shark cage diving in the world. Since we were already in Sydney, we didn’t mind flying 4 hours via Adelaide to Port Lincoln. We went there just to see the great whites. We chose Calypso star charters since they were highly rated in trip advisor and they have daily recorded sightings plotted in their web site.
We were picked up in our hotel and boarded the boat at around 6:30am, just enough to catch a good sunrise. Although it was a long 3-hour trip to Neptune island, we weren’t bored because we were served with food and the boat crew even caught a bluefin tuna through a hand line on the way. He was nice to share the sashimi to everyone.
Upon arriving in Neptune island, we could already see the great white shark from above. We were already grouped into 8 and were the first ones to be in the cage. We were lucky we saw 5 different great white sharks that day.
This trip did not disappoint us at all. To be so near yet so far with one of the most feared creature in the ocean, was exhilarating! We finally ticked this off our bucket list.
